CDU Goes Live with Bayshann’s AI-Enabled CPP Solution

Charles Darwin University (CDU) has successfully launched Bayshann’s AI-enabled solution for delivering Commonwealth Prac Payments.

The Australian Government’s Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) program represents a major step forward in supporting students undertaking mandatory professional placements.

Announced in the 2024–25 Federal Budget, the initiative provides up to $331.65 per week to help students manage the financial pressures associated with unpaid placements , a long-standing challenge across many disciplines including healthcare, teaching and social services.

For universities, the program also introduced tight delivery timelines and operational complexity. Institutions needed secure, compliant systems capable of processing student applications quickly while protecting sensitive student data.

A Rapid Implementation at Charles Darwin University

Charles Darwin University (CDU) is among the first universities in Australia to go live with CPP processing, thanks to a collaborative implementation with Bayshann.

Delivered in just 12 weeks, the solution was built using Microsoft Power Platform and deployed within CDU’s own secure tenancy. The platform now supports the management of CPP applications while streamlining administrative workflows for university teams.

Designed for Speed, Security and Scale

Bayshann’s CPP Accelerator was designed specifically to support universities implementing the Commonwealth Prac Payments program.

The solution enables institutions to rapidly deploy a secure and scalable system while improving both administrative efficiency and the student experience.

Key capabilities include:

Rapid time to market
Accelerator-based delivery enabled CDU to move from concept to production in just 12 weeks.

Enterprise grade security
Built on Microsoft’s secure cloud infrastructure and deployed within CDU’s own tenancy to ensure full control of student data and identity management.

AI assisted application assessment
AI-supported workflows help reduce manual processing effort while maintaining oversight and governance.

Improved student experience
Mobile friendly interfaces allow students to submit applications easily and track progress transparently.

Flexible configuration
A no code approach allows institutions to tailor workflows to their own operational requirements with minimal development effort.

Operational sustainability
Clear auditability and streamlined workflows help institutions manage compliance while maintaining cost effectiveness.

A Partner Perspective

Reflecting on the implementation, CDU highlighted both the speed of delivery and the long-term potential of the platform.

“At Charles Darwin University (CDU), we’re proud to be among the first institutions to go live with CPP processing, thanks to our partnership with Bayshann. In just 12 weeks, we delivered a secure, AI-enabled solution built on the Microsoft Power Platform, streamlining application workflows and reducing staff overhead.

This innovation not only supports our students — it sets the foundation for future digital solutions.”

Looking Ahead

The CPP implementation demonstrates how universities can rapidly deploy secure digital solutions while maintaining strong governance and data protection.

Beyond supporting Commonwealth Prac Payments, the underlying platform creates opportunities to extend similar capabilities across other student services and administrative processes.

A huge thank you to the dedicated teams from Charles Darwin University and Bayshann who worked collaboratively to deliver this solution in record time.

Universities preparing to implement CPP programs can now benefit from a proven accelerator designed to deliver speed, security and scalability.
